Golu Grows a Nose: This Class 7 NCERT prose is about an elephant named Golu. This poem tries to tell that earlier elephants did not have trunks. But one day, during a journey Golu was attacked by a crocodile. Fortunately, a python saved him with the help of his nose. But this incident stretched Golu’s nose and since then elephants are supposed to have had a trunk.
I want something in a Cage: This story is about the significance of freedom. A man who has been in prison for ten years knows the value of freedom. He goes to the shop of Mr Purcell and asks for an animal that will set him free. And so he gives him a pair of doves. Then the man sets them free in the sky. With this, Mr Purcell feels insulted but shocked at the same time.
Chandni: This NCERT English chapter is about freedom and never giving up attitude. Abbu khan lived in Almora. He had goats as his pet. They would always run away from him and reach the hilltop. He was frustrated with this habit of goats. He then thought of getting a new goat. He named it Chandani. When the new goat grew up, it too escaped from Abbu and reached the hilltop.
