CBSE Class 12 NCERT Books for Urdu – Khayaban-e-Urdu
Nearly 70 million people in Pakistan and India speak Urdu as their first language, and more than 100 million speak it as a second language. The majority of Urdu speakers are found in Pakistan and India. It is the state language of Pakistan and is also recognised (technically referred to as “scheduled”) as an official language in the constitution of India. In addition to the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States, significant speech communities can also be found in these countries. Urdu and Hindi are both understandable to speakers of the other language.
Hindi is a language that was born in the Indian subcontinent, and Urdu is a language that shares many similarities with Hindi. They both have an Indo-Aryan root, and their phonetics and grammar are so similar that people often mistake them for being the same language. However, in terms of lexicon, they have extensively borrowed from other sources; Urdu has borrowed from Arabic and Persian, and Hindi has borrowed from Sanskrit. Urdu employs a modified form of Perso-Arabic script known as Nastaliq, whereas Hindi uses the Devanagari writing system. This is the distinction that stands out the most between the two languages.
NCERT books are written by the most qualified educators in the relevant department, each with many years of experience in their respective fields of study. Since these books are written in a very straightforward format and are simple to understand, it will be very simple for the students to read and take in the information. The presence of pictures and diagrams within the books makes these books appear to the students to be more interesting and promising.

NCERT Books
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) publishes and disseminates a series of textbooks known as NCERT Books for students in classes from 1 to 12. Because they contain not only theoretical information but also exercises to practise what they’ve learned, these NCERT textbooks are required reading for all students enrolled in the CBSE. The other publication covers supplementary Readers, Teachers’ Guides, Research Monographs, Books on Vocational Courses, and Educational Journals. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) textbooks are used in teaching at every CBSE school in India.
For the most part, NCERT is nothing but the publishing body and publisher for all classes’ textbooks, guides, study materials, etc.
Regarding examination preparation, students who follow Online NCERT Books can cover the entire syllabus and curriculum. The following is a list of the primary motives that, if understood, will encourage students to study from NCERT textbooks:
- Before the chapter is taught in the classroom, students can get a general sense of what it covers on their own.
- Learning new material and reviewing previously covered material can be done again after students finish their classes.
- They can easily make notes covering all important points during the preparation process.
- They can practise the material covered in each chapter by solving the examples.
- One must solve all the sample problems covered at the end of each chapter.
The students enrolled in the CBSE board regard the NCERT books as the most important resources available to them. These books are now considered essential reading material for students studying the curriculum of the CBSE and many other state boards. The National Council of Educational Research and Training, more commonly known by its acronym NCERT, is an independent organisation with the mission of providing children all over India with an education of the highest possible standard.
All students beginning in Class 12 are required to use NCERT textbooks as their primary educational resources. After conducting extensive research and an in-depth analysis of the topic, these are selected and organised by highly qualified subject-matter experts.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
1. Is there any resemblance between the languages of Hindi and Urdu?
In a nutshell, Urdu can be defined as Hindi, with some Persian or Arabian words interspersed throughout. Urdu is believed to have originated in the Mughal military cantonments. The Mughal army traditionally consisted of local Indians and soldiers from Iran, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkey. They did this by using pertinent words, making verbal communication easier to understand. Their courts also used Urdu as their official language; their primary headquarters were in Delhi and Agra, and their tier two headquarters were in cities such as Lucknow, Hyderabad, Bhopal, Jaipur, Rampur, and others.
2. How many books does the NCERT curriculum for Class 12 offer in Urdu?
The following four NCERT books are required for the CBSE Class 12 Urdu course: Gulistan-e-Adab, Khayaban-e-Urdu, Nai Awaz and Dhanak
3. Can you finish the NCERT Class 12 book in one day?
The questions covered in the NCERT Class 12 book are diverse for each subject area. If you have been diligently studying the NCERT book throughout the year and thoroughly understand all the concepts involved, you should be able to solve it in a single day. However, doing so is not something that is recommended be done. You shouldn’t put too much emphasis on it and stress yourself out. It is important that you give yourself sufficient time to complete all of the exercises and questions spread out over the course of several days.
4. How can I get better at speaking Urdu?
There are many different ways to improve one’s Urdu vocabulary:
- Reading: Read works of poetry and/or prose written by renowned authors. For those interested in poetry, we would suggest the works of Ghalib and Iqbal.
- Regarding news media, both reading and audio-visual, BBC Urdu is the most well-known option.
- Television and movies provide good exposure to the language at all levels, from every day to the most formal.
5. Which books are the most helpful for someone who is just starting out with the Urdu language?
It is possible that, depending on how well you already know the language, you should begin by reading a book like Routledge’s Colloquial Urdu to get a feel for the language’s colloquial register. If you are already at ease with it, you might want to go straight to reading prose, such as novels and longer works of fiction, such as short stories. I would suggest reading Premchand and Manto if you are interested in short stories. As some of Premchand’s dialogues are written in what could be described as the language of the village, reading them will also help you improve your colloquial language skills. Novelists of this day include Farhat Ishtiaq, Umera Ahmed and Shagufta Bhatti, to name just a few. You have a lot of options when it comes to selecting a good novelist. Ismet Chughtai, Nazir Ahmed Dehlavi, Ibn Safi, and Razia Butt are some examples of writers who are a little bit older. You can research the well-known works produced by each author and choose those that appeal to you most in terms of the genre or subject matter.
You can access all of the thoroughly researched and high-quality chapters, sample papers, and course outlines on a wide range of subjects through the website of Extramarks as well as its mobile application, which is downloadable from the play store.
