JEE Advanced, also known as the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced), is a national-level entrance exam administered by one of seven participating IITs (IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Hyderabad, and IIT Guwahati) on a rotational basis for B.E./B.Tech and Architecture Admissions in IITs. JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria

Before filling out the application form, candidates should be aware of the JEE Advanced eligibility guidelines. The IIT conducting the Advanced exam releases the notification along with eligibility details on their website. Students will be able to determine the necessary conditions that they must meet to apply for the exam by knowing the JEE Advanced eligibility for 2023. This will assist JEE applicants in deciding whether or not they are qualified to appear in the exam.

IIT JEE Advanced 2023 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2023 is present on the official website. All current or new conditions and requirements for the admission test are included in the eligibility criteria. Meanwhile, starting in 2020, the test board will choose the top 2,50,000 JEE Main participants to compete in the JEE Advanced examination.

Age criteria:- 

To be eligible, candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 1997. To be eligible, candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 1992. Applicants belonging to reserved category are allowed a 5-year extension.

Total Number of Attempts: 

Regardless of whether or not they passed the qualifying exam, candidates may take the test twice every two years.

Nationality:- 

The JEE Advanced exam is open to Indian citizens, PIOs (Persons of Indian Origin), OCIs (Overseas Citizens of India), and international nationals. Foreign nationals must meet certain conditions. We’ll take a deeper look at each of them in the sections below.

JEE Advanced Eligibility based on Performance In JEE Main

The first part of the IIT Joint Entrance Exam is JEE Main 2023. JEE Main 2023 is an exam administered by the National Testing Agency for students interested in studying engineering at India’s leading universities. Candidates might also choose to take one or all of the tests. In producing the ranks/merit list, the test organizing authorities considered the best NTA score. Candidates who passed the JEE Mains test can take the JEE Advanced exam.

More importantly, students get admitted to IITs, CFTIs, NITs, and other government-funded technical colleges based on their JEE Main scores. In addition, the top 2,50,000 candidates in JEE Main will be eligible to take JEE Advanced. Aspirants must be among the top 2,50,000 (all categories) successful students in JEE Main to be considered for JEE Advanced. In case of a tie, the total number of applicants may be more than 2,50,000.

JEE Advanced Eligibility based on 12th Class Board Exams Or Other Equivalent exams.

In 2021, the candidates must have passed their class 12th board examinations or any other comparable test. Applicants who will be taking the board examinations in 2023 are also eligible. Candidates who first took the Class XII (or equivalent) test in 2020 or before cannot take the JEE Advanced 2023 exam.

If the results of their class 12th board examinations or any other similar test for the academic year 2021 were released after June 2021, students are eligible to take JEE Advanced. Note: When a board declares the result for a Class XII (or similar) examination, it means that the board proclaimed the result for that year regardless of whether or not the test was held. Even if the results of a single candidate are withheld, it will be deemed an appearance.

Suppose the examination board for Class XII (or equivalent) releases the results for the academic year 2019-20 on or after October 15, 2020. In that case, candidates from that board who took their Class XII exam in 2020 are also eligible to take JEE (Advanced) 2023, assuming they meet all other eligibility criteria. If the examination board for Class XII (or equivalent) released the academic year 2019-20 before October 15, 2020, but a candidate’s result was delayed, the applicant would be unable to participate in JEE (Advanced) 2023.

Students in the general category must achieve a minimum of 75 per cent in their class 12th board examinations. In contrast, students in the SC, ST and PWD categories must achieve a minimum of 65 per cent in their class 12th board examinations or be in the top 20 percentile in their respective class 12th equivalent board examinations. The cutoff marks and aggregate marks for meeting the top 20%ile JEE Advanced qualifying criterion will be calculated using the following five subjects:

• Physics 
• Chemistry
• Mathematics 
• Elective subject
• Optional Language 

If any of the subjects’ total marks are not out of 100, the total marks earned will be scaled up and down to 100 when computing the aggregate marks.

Relaxation of Criteria in JEE (Advanced) 2023 as a Special Case

The test body has issued a one-time measure for individuals who initially participated in a class 12th (or equivalent) examination in 2020/2021 and successfully registered for JEE (Advanced) 2021 but did not present. The following are the requirements:

• Candidates who first appeared in a class 12th (or equivalent) examination in 2020 or 2021 and successfully registered for JEE (Advanced) 2021 but were absent in both papers, i.e., Paper 1 and Paper 2, of JEE (Advanced) 2021, are eligible to directly appear in JEE (Advanced) 2023 and do not need to meet the criteria mentioned above
• They must, however, register for JEE (Advanced) 2023 and pay the registration fee using the online registration site. Furthermore, these students will be regarded in addition to the total number of applicants who will qualify for JEE (Advanced) 2023 based on their performance in JEE (Main)

Due to the current epidemic, the test administration has clarified that this is a one-time precaution effective just for JEE Advanced 2023. Candidates must check their eligibility for JEE Advanced 2023 by going to the JEE Advanced website and filling out the necessary details during registration.

Note: Candidates who took their class 12th test for the first time before 2020 are not eligible for this one-time measure.

Any processing costs, service charges, or other charges that the banks may levy are not included in the registration price. On the online registration site, detailed instructions for paying the registration cost are usually given.

Documents required for registration 

• Parents’ citizenship certificate/passport
• Proof of your identity
• Cut-off sheet/certificate for the 12th standard. A birth certificate is required to prove your age
• A testimonial (if required)

All seats allocated to foreign national applicants shall be redundant, with a maximum of 10% of the total number of seats available in each course.

Foreign Centres Where JEE Advanced Are Held 

The exam is administered at several locations. Colombo (Sri Lanka), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), San Francisco (USA), Dubai (UAE), Kathmandu (Nepal), and Singapore are among the destinations. The JEE Advanced 2023 eligibility criteria highlight some essential prerequisites that engineering applicants must meet to sit for the test. Candidates who do not match the eligibility standards for JEE Advanced will not be permitted to take the exam.

Candidates need to read and understand the eligibility requirements before completing the JEE Advanced application form. The student’s application will be denied if any prerequisites are not satisfied. IIT Bombay has been selected to organize and conduct it in the exam.

Note: International applicants will be the first to register for JEE Advanced 2023. Candidates from India will be able to register at a later date.

Important Notice: The test body has decided not to hold the JEE (Advanced) 2023 in any of the international centres/countries due to the current pandemic scenario in India and abroad due to COVID-19. According to the test authorities, foreign nationals may take JEE Advanced 2023 at any of the Indian centres of their choosing at their own cost (including travel) if they follow the relevant travel restrictions of the Indian government and their respective countries of residency.

Overview Of JEE Advanced

JEE Advanced is the JEE’s second phase, after the Main exam. The test is held every year on a rotational basis by one of the 7 IITs under the supervision of IIT – JAB (Joint Admission Board). Students are admitted to different undergraduate programmes (engineering, science, or architecture) offered by the country’s leading IITs and ISMs based on their test results. Due to recent revisions, the exam will now be administered as a computer-based online test with two papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2). On the same day, the test will be conducted in two sessions. To be included in the merit list, students must attend both Paper 1 and Paper 2 and pass in both.
