Trichloroacetic acid Formula
Carbon, Hydrogen, Chlorine, and Oxygen are the elements that make up trichloroacetic acid. Carbon is a nonmetallic element that is part of Periodic Table Group 14.It has the atomic number 6 and is denoted by the symbol C. Oxygen is a highly reactive nonmetal found in the chalcogen group, specifically group 16. It has an atomic number of 8 and is denoted by the symbol O.
Trichloroacetic acid is an organic compound and analogue of acetic acid, in which the three Hydrogen atoms have been replaced by Chlorine atoms. Jean-Baptiste Dumas discovered trichloroacetic acid in 1839. Trichloroacetic Acid Formula has the chemical formula C2HCl3O2. TCA is another name for it (A short form for Trichloroacetic acid). Trichloroacetic acid appears as a crystalline solid with no colour. It slowly turns into syrup by absorbing moisture from the air.
