Magnesium Bromide Formula
Magnesium Bromide Formula, MgBr2, is a compound formula derived from bromine. It is composed of Br, and magnesium, namely Mg. The molecular or chemical formula for magnesium bromide is MgBr2. Additionally, in anhydrous form, it is a white, hexagonal, hygroscopic crystal. However, in the hexa hydrate phase, it is monoclinic with no colour.

Magnesium solenoids are synthesised by adding magnesium bromide (MgBr2) to lithium methyl bromosilylenoids. Magnesium atoms exchange lithium in the complex and bind bromide. This complex is stable at room temperature. The Magnesium Bromide Formula is MgBr2.

Use Of Magnesium Bromide
Magnesium bromide (MgBr2) is useful as a catalyst for various reactions. The first is a solvent-free one-pot synthesis of dihydropyrimidinones commonly used in the pharmaceutical industry. We also use dihydropyrimidinones in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals such as calcium channel blockers and HIV GP-120 CD4 inhibitors and are also useful as a sedative.
A combination of magnesium bromide (MgBr2) and CH2Cl2 catalyse reactions that lead to the hydrogenation of alkenes to specific symmetric and chiral centres. Magnesium bromide (MgBr2) has been shown to be very practical in coupling functional groups other than catalysis. Additionally, when attached to the ethyl group, it is used for the regiospecific analysis of triglycerols. Magnesium bromide (MgBr2) hexa hydrate is prepared for use as a flame retardant. The addition of 0.125 mol/l of magnesium bromide hexahydrate to cotton material has been shown to act as a flame retardant as a result. Magnesium bromide synthesised the first ever stable magnesium solenoid. Solenoids are compounds composed of R2SiMX, where M is the metal and R is the organic part of the compound.
