Calcium Bromide Formula
Calcium Bromide, also known as Calcium Dibromide, is a compound known to be used in some drilling fluids and food preservatives. Calcium dibromide does not damage any formations. It is chemically and thermally stable. Other solutions containing chlorides and bromides can be mixed with this compound. Preparation:

In upstream oil and gas, Calcium Bromide helps control wellbore pressure during completion and finishing operations. Calcium Bromide is sprayed on coal before combustion to control mercury emissions. When charcoal burns, Calcium Bromide decomposes and reacts with elemental mercury to produce ionic species of mercury. It can then be captured by downstream environmental protection equipment.
