Barium Chloride Formula
The Barium Chloride Formula salt is an inorganic salt formed by the direct reaction of barium (Ba) and chlorine (Cl). It is also known as barium muriate or barium dichloride. Furthermore, it is a white solid that dissolves when placed in water. It is hygroscopic and gives the flame a slight yellow and green colour. Occurrence
Barium chloride does not occur naturally. Barium Chloride can be easily obtained by roasting barite with coal and calcium chloride.
Preparation
Barium chloride can be produced by conducting a two-step reaction from barium sulphate to produce the barium sulphate, which reacts with HCl to produce barium chloride:
BaSO4+ 4C → BaS + 4CO
BaS + 2HCl → BaCl2+ H2S
Barium Chloride can also be made from barium sulphide, which is hydrochloric acid.
Physical Properties

The density of Barium Chloride Formula is 3.856 g mL-1, and it is a white solid. Barium chloride has melting and boiling points of 962 °C and 1560 °C, respectively. It is easily soluble in water (H2O), methanol, but insoluble in ethanol and ethyl acetate. It has a slightly yellow and green flame, but it is extremely toxic in nature.

BaCl2→ Ba2+ + 2Cl–
