CBSE Class 10 Science Question Paper 2020
The Class 10 Science question paper comprised 30 questions divided into 3 sections – Section A, Section B and Section C. The below table shows the structure of the question paper.

All the questions in the question paper were compulsory. However, each section had some questions which gave the students internal choices. The number of questions for which internal choices were provided was as follows:
- 3 Questions in Section A
- 3 Questions in Section B
- 3 Questions in Section C
The Class 10 CBSE Science question paper also drew out a clear guideline for the students according to which they would have to answer the question. The guideline asserted that students should adhere to the word limit for every question as far as possible. Keeping the answers brief and answering to the point was also necessary and clearly stated in the guideline. In addition to these, separate instructions were also given for each question in the question paper.
Science Question Paper for Class 10 – 2020
Let us now have a look at each section of the CBSE Class 10 Science question paper section-wise to have a better understanding of the structure and substance of the questions:
Section – A
The Section A of the Class 10 Science question paper is dedicated to objective questions and consisted of 14 questions total. Each question carries 1 mark. The Section A questions are divided into three categories: multiple-choice questions (MCQ), very short answer type questions (VSA), and Assertion-Reason type questions. The answers to all these questions would be in a single word or a sentence maximum.
Section – B
The Section B of the Class 10 science question paper consists of 10 questions total with each question carrying 3 marks. They were short answer type questions which means the answer to each of them should not exceed 50 – 60 words. The answers, as stated in the instructions, should be brief and to the point without any sort of extra details.
Section – C
The Section C of the Class 10 Science question paper contained 6 long answer-type questions with each question carrying 5 marks. Although they were long-answer type questions, the answers to them should not exceed 80 – 90 words, as was clearly stated in the instruction. In Section C, long-answer type questions there are usually questions based on diagrams and graphs. Questions based on the modern periodic table, chemical equations etc. are some of the common types of questions included in Section C.
