NEET 2024 Eligibility Criteria

- State Quota
Under the state quota, candidates will be offered 85% of MBBS/BDS seats in the medical institutes of respective states. The counseling for this quota is conducted only by state authorities. However, it is important to note that the eligibility criteria for state quota applicants may vary depending on the regulations set by the respective state governments. Typically, state quota applicants must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
- Candidates are required to have finished or be in the process of completing their 10th and 12th examinations from the state
- Candidates must have valid proof of residence within the state
- Candidates should have a valid domicile in the state
- All India Quota
The All India Quota or AIQ seats account for 15% of seats in medical colleges. Under this quota, the counseling session is conducted at an all India level by the Medical Council of India (MCI). A self-declaration form is required to be submitted with the NEET application form in order to be eligible for this quota. Students who are willing to go outside their home state and study can apply under this quota. Here is a list of individuals that are eligible for 15% of AIQ seats:

- Overseas Citizens of India
- NRIs
- Foreign Nationals & Persons of Indian Origin
These candidates should:
- Be citizens of India
- Fulfill the defined age criteria for NEET UG
- NRI & OCI/Foreign Students
To be eligible for NEET UG in the NRI quota, students should meet the following criteria:
- Students should have passed Class 12 with minimum 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or an equivalent exam
– Students must hold a valid passport
– Students must meet the age criteria, with a minimum age limit of 17 years. There is no upper age limit
– Students must hold NRI status as defined by the government or conducting authority. This may require submission of relevant documents supporting their NRI status
– Students applying under NRI sponsorship must have a real blood relation to their financial supporter such as father, mother, sister, brother, aunt or uncle
– Students are required to submit a certificate from the relevant Indian Diplomatic Mission in their country of residence, validating their status as an OCI/foreign candidate, while submitting their application form
– Students also need to upload proof of nationality, such as passport pages or a certificate from the Competent Authority of their country.

- State Quota
- Possession of a provisional MBBS pass certificate is mandatory
- Candidates must meet the NEET PG cutoff specified for the relevant year
- Completion of a one-year rotary internship within the state authority’s designed timeframe is needed
- Candidates must provide documentation verifying their domicile in the state
- All India Quota
- Candidates must possess a recognized MBBS degree or provisional MBBS pass certificate issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI)
- Candidates must have completed or be completing their one-year rotatory internship on or before the cutoff date specified by the conducting authority
- Candidates seeking admission under the All India Quota must register themselves for counseling conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India
- Candidates must qualify for the NEET PG examination with the minimum qualifying percentile as determined by the National Board of Examinations (NBE)
- NRI & OCI/Foreign Students
- It is no longer mandatory for foreign nationals to be registered with MCI to be eligible for NEET PG 2024
- The MCI is authorized to offer temporary registration to applicants who pay the registration fee. Applicants must note that the validity of this registration is only for the post graduate course duration
- Foreign Nationals have to be registered with a competent registering authority of their country in order to get temporary registration

As per NTA’s latest updates, NEET UG exam is all set to be held on May 5, 2024 whereas the date for NEET PG 2024 has been revised. Initially, it was initially to be conducted in March 2024, but has now been postponed to July 7, 2024.

Step 1 – Registration

Step 2 – Fill out the Online Application Form

05 | Presently enrolled in the first year of a 3-year degree course in a recognized university with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English |
06 | Passed the B.Sc final examination from an Indian university with a minimum of two subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology (Botany, Zoology). Students should have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. |
07 | Appeared for any other exam apart from class 12 that was equivalent to the Intermediate Science examination of an Indian board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English. Eligible for NEET aspirants who took a qualifying exam in a foreign country. |
